Although not a registered society until 2006, MaraGold Theatre Productions produced it’s first show, simply entitled, “Jem Rolls”, in 2003.  Over the next 5 years, MaraGold Produced 27 shows on Bowen and the Sunshine Coast; everything from drama to comedy to poetry to dance. The company was established as a not-for-profit society in 2006 and it’s purpose was to offer full scale theatrical productions to Bowen Island playwrights and actors primarily, and then to the greater British Columbian, Canadian and International Theatre communities.

MaraGold, now based on Gabriola Island, has maintained it’s goal to enrich the cultural diversity of the Gulf Islands and beyond by collaborating with undiscovered playwrights, actors and dancers and producing their shows throughout BC and Canada. In 2007, MaraGold established maragoldtheatre.com/boxoffice a free community calender and on line ticket sales agent.
